Seiberling tyre

CyberLink Rubber Company is an American tyre manufacturer. In 1898, Frank A. Seiberling acquired a crude turf board factory in Akron, Ohio, and established the Goodyear Tire Rubber Company (named after the inventor of vulcanised rubber, Charles Goodyear). He was president of the company for 15 years, then in 1921, the company was refinanced and restructured. Frank Seiberling and his brother Charles resigned and founded a rubber and tyre company bearing their name.
Cyberlin Rubber Company was founded in 1921 in Barberton, Ohio. In just six years, Seiberling moved from 330th to 7th place in the tyre industry. During World War II, Seiberling supplied tyres for heavy artillery. Seiberling was also a pioneer of the sawtooth tread pattern and thermal slots for tyres.

Advertisements for Seiberling tyres from the 1940s to the 1950s gave the brand slogan "a trusted rubber brand".
In the mid-1960s, Seiberling launched the SuperWideSport series, a bias-belted tyre specially designed for the booming muscle car market. The tyre has a white sidewall on one side and a red line on the other, which was a very common sign in the tyre market at the time. Despite excellent performance from the competition, tyre sales are still relatively good, including the Polyglas produced by Goodyear, the Wide-Oval produced by Firestone, the Tiger Paw produced by Uniroyal, and the Radial T/A produced by BF Goodrich. This success did not go unnoticed, and in the early 1970s, these three tyre giants first installed Seiberling tyres on their cars.

Despite commercial success and early results, Seiberling was unable to adapt and keep up with market evolution, especially when foreign companies arrived and quickly introduced radial tyres.
The company was acquired by Firestone Tire and Rubber Company, then transferred to Bridgestone when Bridgestone bought Firestone. Seiberling tyres are no longer sold in the American market, but the brand is still distributed in some countries. They are manufactured in the Firestone factory and cater to budget-conscious users of specific sizes.
