The « Gunpowder Works » was established in 1889 by decree of Milan Obrenović and produced 37 tonnes of black powder during its first year of activity in 1892. After the First World War, the Military-Technical Bureau « Obilićevo » was created through reconstructions and expansions. This new entity comprised ten factories, employed 2,000 people, and had its own scientific research laboratory. It produced nitrocellulose-based gunpowder, activated carbon, protective masks, nitrotoluene explosives, and other compounds.
After the Second World War, the company operated under the name « Miloje Zakić » and manufactured industrial explosives, activated carbon, and protective masks. In 1963, production based on rubber processing began to develop with the manufacture of technical rubber articles and tyres for bicycles, mopeds, and scooters. Thanks to a joint venture and technology transfer contract with French partners KLEBER, CIFAL, and SETILEX, the new TRAYAL factory was commissioned in 1974, with an annual production of about two million radial car tyres. Production based on rubber processing continued to develop, including tyres for industrial transport, motor cultivators, trailers, manual transport, etc. The production of protective devices dates back to 1925, with the start of the manufacture of the M-27 protective mask.
Today, TRAYAL CORPORATION A.D. is the largest company in the city of Krusevac. It is also one of the largest exporting companies in Serbia and the region. Its main motto is the continuous increase in production and sales as well as quality improvement.
