The Nankang Sportnex CR-S is a summer tyre designed for high performance. It is aimed at track-day enthusiasts and sporty drivers who prioritise very good traction and precise handling on dry roads. Developed for warm periods and for dry or wet roads, it is not suitable for ice, snow or icy surfaces.
Designed with sporting efficiency in mind, it uses a new tread compound capable of quickly reaching its ideal operating range. Its asymmetric tread pattern supports high-speed driving, while its wide outer shoulders increase grip when cornering. A central circumferential groove helps dissipate heat during intensive use and, together with the inner grooves, aids water evacuation in order to limit aquaplaning.
Its internal construction is based on a two-ply polyester carcass, designed to enhance stability and control. The tread is supported by two wide steel belts, themselves complemented by an aramid ply to improve high-speed behaviour and steering precision. The compound used on the sidewalls helps better manage heat build-up while increasing stiffness, for a more direct response.
All current and future Sportnex CR-S tyres feature Nankang’s optimised V2 compound. It should, however, be noted that after exposure to a temperature below 20 degrees F (-7 degrees C), the tyres must be gradually warmed for 24 hours to at least 40 degrees F (5 degrees C) before any work is carried out, whether inflation, fitting or driving.
Use in cold weather may cause irreversible cracking in the compound due to unsuitable use or storage. Any tyre affected by this type of damage must be replaced.
